Truth of the gospel

We implore you on behalf of Christ, Be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:20b-2

We are a people who treasure the Gospel.

The Gospel is more than a message or advice; it is powerful, life-giving good news. The good news is that God has made a way for us as sinners to be brought back in right relationship with Him, one another, and the world through Jesus. The heart of the Gospel centers in the person and work of Jesus who came and lived the perfect life we never could. He displayed His love for us by dying on a cross to pay for our sins and restore us back to God. Jesus did not merely die though; He conquered sin, death, and Satan through His resurrection. Because of what Jesus accomplished, there is now forgiveness, restoration to Himself and others, and the Holy Spirit to those who turn from sin and believe in Jesus. For those who believe, we are given a new identity as disciples/followers of Jesus and a hope for all eternity. Our identity is reflective of our Trinitarian God who exist as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.
1 Peter 3:18

Response to the Gospel

We must repent by confessing our sins and confess faith in the Lordship of Jesus.  Jesus not only died for us, but was raised for us. Because we now justified by the work of Jesus, God no longer condemns us as sinners, but declares us innocent by His grace through our faith. (Rom. 10: 9-10, Eph. 2:8-9)

Treasure the Gospel

The good news of the gospel is that we get God. God is the Gospel! If God is not treasured as the ultimate gift of the Gospel, we have missed the point.
